GREYCORTEX SCADA/ICS

GREYCORTEX SCADA/ICS is an inventory, monitoring and detection system intended for use in the Industry 4.0 environment. The main result of the industrial research and development of the MIT project “Data Monitoring to Increase the Reliability of Smart Factory Processes” called GREYCORTEX SCADA/ICS (or OT Security for marketing purposes) consists of several interconnected modules of the Mendel system:

  • OT Discovery to detect and recognize features and categories of devices specific to the operating technology environment (OT)
  • OT Inventory for possible equipment inventory
  • SCADA to ensure transparency of communication of industrial protocols
  • OT Log Processing for collecting log data of individual industrial equipment

These modules ensure increased security of individual components and the system as a whole for industrial SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) systems with the focus on smart factories and Industry 4.0.

The GREYCORTEX SCADA/ICS system was designed as highly modular, with interoperable software modules. The operation of the system must not directly affect the production environment of operating technologies – from this point of view, it is planned as primarily passive. The system is based on a three-tier architecture and the following components:

  • highly optimized database backend
  • application logic of two types (processing at runtime and according to user requirements): 
    • data processing (network, logs, active scanning)
    • event detection
    • machine learning
  • presentation logic (using a web browser)
  • add-on modules and their licence management
